IMPLANTIEREN is a biennial performance festival organised by ID_Frankfurt e.V. (Independent Dance and Performance e.V.). It emerged in 2013 from the festivals Tanzpanorama and Rough Cuts and, as a format for site-specific performances, explicitly responds to the lack of space of many freelance artists*. With its last edition in 2018, the festival with its 11 productions as well as dance workshops and discussion formats has performed at a total of 29 locations in Frankfurt, Hanau and Offenbach. Since 2019 IMPLANTIEREN has been part of “Festivalfriends”, a network of regional festivals of the liberal performing arts, consisting of Performing Arts Festival (Berlin), 6 tage frei (Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg), Hauptsache Frei (Hamburg), RODEO (Munich), and FAVORITEN (Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia).
In cooperation with numerous institutions and initiatives of artists, scientists, activists and residents in the three cities, IMPLANTIEREN2020 is testing various forms of artistic appropriation of space and spatial design.
